The purpose of the FDIA is to uplift the quality and professionalism within the industry through training and by informing its members, consulting engineers and specifiers of changes and technologies within and affecting the industry, using this website and email newsletters thereby providing an overall service to the South African community.
FDIA is administered by a committee elected by its members from within the relevant fire detection and gaseous extinguishing industries.

The Fire Protection Association of Southern Africa (FPASA) was established in 1973 to provide a specialized fire safety management technical and training service to industry, commerce and society at large. Over the years the Association has developed a range of membership options and technical, training and fire safety management services that are recognized for their quality, professionalism and value.
